College – UKIRK @ ASU

UKIRK at ASU

UKIRK will be on hiatus for the 2023-2024 academic year. We encourage and welcome students to join the UPC community on Sunday mornings for worship at 9:30 a.m. and Adult Christian Education at 11:00 p.m. Pastor Eric is also available for phone calls, video chats, or meeting for coffee or lunch. Please contact the church office to schedule an appointment.

UKIRK is the Presbyterian campus ministry at Arizona State University’s Tempe campus. UKIRK is a combination of “University” (meaning ASU) and “Kirk,” the Scottish word for “Church” or “gathering.” So, we are a “University Church.”

We are an open and inclusive Christian community seeking to help students grow in their faith and connect with a local congregation while attending ASU-Tempe. We are open to all students, whether attending ASU or other colleges. We welcome and affirm who God has made and is making you to be, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, cultural background, age, or ability. Our desire is to create a safe and sacred space to ask questions, confess doubts, and grow in faith.

MEETINGS

In Fall 2021 we are returning to in-person gatherings, but will try to provide a hybrid in-person/online option. We meet weekly during the academic year every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Starbucks on campus at the Memorial Union. We share in fellowship and engage in bible study often tied to current events and issues of the day.

ANNUAL LABOR DAY RETREAT

Ordinarily, the first weekend of September we head to beautiful San Diego to spend a few days basking in the Southern California sun, get away from the mayhem of campus life, and seek the ancient practice of “sabbath.” We worship, study, pray, break bread, and have fun together! Unfortunately, due to the pandemic we have had to cancel that trip until it is safer to travel. To receive updates, sign up for our UKIRK Weekly Update email here.
